Inspired by the Scottish Gaelic word “norrag”, meaning forty winks, this handcrafted mat is a sanctuary in fabric form.


Slow made and sustainable, each Norrag Rest Mat is filled with natural kapok, which is a breathable, hypoallergenic fibre that offers gentle support while grounding the body. The handwoven cotton outer is soft, tactile and designed for longevity.


Created in collaboration with Studio Tolsta in India, every Norrag Rest Mat reflects the art of rest - calm, intentional and made to last.


Perfect for breathwork, meditation, sound baths or simply unwinding at home, it invites you to sink deeply into stillness.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

Our Norrag mats are crafted with natural materials designed for longevity, comfort and ease of care. With a little mindful attention, your mat will remain soft, supportive and beautifully made for years of deep rest.

Outer Cover

The handwoven cotton cover is removable and machine washable.

  • Wash on a gentle cycle with mild detergent.
  • Air dry flat, away from direct heat or sunlight.
  • Do not tumble dry or bleach.

Inner Mat

The kapok filled inner mat should not be washed.

  • Air regularly in sunlight or a breezy space to keep the natural fibres fresh.
  • Spot clean gently with a damp cloth when needed.

A note on care

Natural materials soften and evolve with time, carrying the story of your rest within their fibres. Treat your mat with the same care you bring to your practice - gently, with awareness and it will serve as your sanctuary for many years to come.

We want your Norrag order to reach you beautifully and without fuss.

All orders are shipped from our studio in the UK and carefully packed by hand using sustainable materials.

We use DPD UK for all deliveries - a reliable, trackable and fully carbon neutral service.

You’ll receive tracking details as soon as your parcel leaves us.

Standard Delivery (2–3 working days)

Delivery times may vary slightly during busy periods but we’ll always do our best to get your order to you quickly and safely.

Returns


We hope you love your Norrag purchase but if something isn’t quite right, we’re here to help.

You can return your item within 14 days of receiving it, provided it’s unused, unrolled and in its original packaging.

To start a return, please email hello@thenorrag.com with your order number and reason for return.

Once approved, we’ll send you the return address and instructions.

Please note that return postage costs are not covered and we recommend using a tracked service for peace of mind.

If your item arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us immediately. We’ll sort it swiftly and with care.

Refunds

Once we’ve received and checked your return, your refund will be processed within 5 - 7 working days to your original payment method.

Norrag is the Gaelic word for 40 winks, a reminder of our shared need for rest. By pairing Scottish heritage with Indian craftsmanship, each mat carries a story of tradition and artistry, woven into fabric form.

We have filled the mats with kapok, which is a rare, natural fibre, harvested by hand from the seed pods of the kapok tree. It is breathable, hypoallergenic and fully biodegradeable - one of nature's most sustainable materials.

Each Norrag mat is filled with hand harvested kapok for its gentle loft and resilience, cradling the body in weightless comfort while honouring the planet.

Our kapok is sourced through ethical, sustainable practices that protect both people and trees.
